Perspective Study: The Flagellation

This Page demonstrates using Java connected to VRML the perspective system developed by Piero della Francesca in his painting entitled The Flagellation. Sliding the left scroll bar will move one of the foreground figures left and right. Sliding the second scrollbar will move this figure forward or back in the scene. You can see by this that when one moves this fellow back towards where Christ is tied to the pole he becomes exactly the same size indicating that the figures in the back of the scene are smaller due only to their greater distance from us, the viewers.
